On the way to Chichen Itza, Ik Kil Cenote Well Mexico Vacation Review
|On the way to Chichen Itza! Yes, that’s the title and that’s what we will see today. Well, don’t think that nothing will attract you while you are on the way to Chichen Itza to see Ancient Mayan Pyramids of Kukulcan; to be honest, I was wrongly thinking this way. I just wanted to get to the pyramids as soon as possible, also because the bus trip would take a little more than 3 hours from Cancun to Chichen Itza.
But, what I saw in Ik Kil totaly proved me wrong! Those who has seen that gorgeous cenote (well that is below the ground level) will understand what I am talking about. Don’t worry, I am sharing photos of the place, so, you will understand what I am talking about it, too. Now, I am not saying that it was more important than Chichen Itza but it is absolutely worth to stop by and experience.

If you are staying in a hotel, you will most probably have some agents to help you go to different activities, tours etc. and one of those activities are surely Chichen Itza. When you take your tour to Chichen Itza, the tour is arranged and they stop at Ik Kil for you to have this experience. It is only several mi away from Kukulkan Pyramids, anyways.

Go and experience this rare natural beauty. Swimming in that cenote will be a cornerstone of your visit to Mexico. There are actually resort condo houses around for those who would like to spend more than a day at that location. The resort condo houses look very appealing, though. And seems to be an excellent place to have some peace for several days. Couple hours of visit was enough for me, though.

Right after Ik Kil, the bus will stop for lunch. At the very same place, right after you enjoy your Mexican food, you can go ahead and buy some nice souvenirs. One thing that I was not happy with the restaurant is that they didn’t make real Mexican food by adding their delicious spices, they seemed to be concerned about people who are not Mexican. But that’s kinda absurd; if you are in Mexico, of course, you would want to taste some Mexican food, right? OK, have some regular food, and also real Mexican food together. That would be better.

Another thing you might really be interested in is that you could find a chance to have sterling silver necklaces on which your or your loved ones’ names are written in Ancient Mayan alphabet. The price depends on how many letters are to be written on the necklace.

(Ancient Mayan numerical systems – numbers; it is not too complicated, here’s how you read it: each dot represents 1 and each vertical line represents 5. So, for example, three dots is 3; three dots and a vertical line is 8; two vertical lines and two dots is 12 etc.)
