Fun, Interesting, Weird Facts About Florida for Tourists
|Looks like Florida is among the trending topics of search on google. Well, I’d suspect Florida is always among the top trending topics, anyways. So, I decided to compile some fun, interesting facts about Florida for those who want to visit the state. Some might as well use one or two of these as pick up lines, ahaha.
Alright, let’s get started. St. Petersburg – Clear Water is home to one of the best beaches in the United States. Its beaches have also been rated the number one beach in the whole country in the past. I suspect it is still one among the top beaches. (If you’d like to read more about it, search for it in my blog, I have a whole separate post only about this place)
Here is an interesting one. Florida is America’s primary launch pad for space flights. Yes, I did not know this, either. And if I had to guess, Florida would be the last state in my mind probably.
Of course, talk about Florida and not about diving locations would be a sin. After all, no matter where you are in Florida, you are never more than 60 miles away from ocean. So, here is a good one: Key Largo is known as the Dive Capital of the World. It must be one of the pilgrimage places for diving fanatics. If you’d like extensive shallow coral reef formations near the coast, in the continental United States, Florida is the only place where you could find it.
And here is a weird one. If you own an elephant and go for a ride, do not forget to have some coins. Because if you need to park your elephant where there is a meter, state law requires that you pay for it. Yes, it is true. And this might be a pick up line, I agree. But it seems risky. So make your damn mind up well before you use it. Anyways, something that is loosely related to this weird fact is that make sure you have some changes with you while driving around. Because Florida has more toll roads than any other state in the Union.
If you are a golfer, Florida is your home. It has more golf courses than any other state in the whole country. Florida is also home to World Golf Hall of Fame and Museum. And it is in St. Augustine, in case you’d like to visit it. (By the way, St. Augustine is the oldest European Settlement in North America) Having that said, it might make a good present for a loved one of yours who is fan of golf if you get them a nice Florida vacation type deal. Yea, you could look for a cheap deal, too. It’s Florida, it will make them happy anyways.
Well, even though I read about them a while back, I am still not certain on what exactly the difference is between crocodiles and alligators. I forgot what is was. But apparently, they don’t get along together much. Everglades, Florida, is the only place in the world where they live together.
Withlacoochee -I am not sure know how it is pronounced, really-; well, it is the name a river in Florida. No, actually, it is the name of two different rivers in Florida. Yes, two separate rivers have the same name. Since we are at that — would you be interested in seeing a major river flowing from South to North? Alright, St. Johns River is one of the very few of such major rivers.
Are you planning on going to Disney World in Florida. Here is a “fun” fact. They have 45.000 daily visitors in average. In their busy days, the number goes above 100.000 people a day.
Alright! Hope you all enjoyed these facts. Don’t forget to leave comments. If you have any more fun, interesting, weird facts about Florida, we all would love to hear about them.
