House of Al Capone, the notorious gangster had a beach in Varadero. The idyllic cottage is still standing. Now a restaurant and safe to get away to knock!
House of Dupont / Mansion Xanadu: The American tycoon Dupont amassed his fortune with the introduction of the ‘lycra’, ladies, but once you look at the mark of your stockings’ Lycra by Dupont. A listed building, situated on a rock. You can now dine in the cozy seaside restaurant veranda, or enjoy the view and a drink in the rooftop bar.
Parque Josone: Josone the park is the green heart of Varadero, it’s a walk in the midst of exotic plants. Grab a terrace in the shade of the lush greenery. Just outside the park is the “Museo Varadero, housed in an authentic wooden house by the sea, and saw it here in the past!
Hotel Internacional / Continental Cabaret: the oldest hotel in Varadero dates from the fifties of the last century and is still there, very different from the resorts of today! The hotel houses the Continental Cabaret, where typical Cuban shows are staged, with a professional ballet and singers: good old fashioned fun!
What should I do in Varadero
Hop On, Hop Off: the double-decker, the bright red bus you can not miss. Very touristy, stops everywhere!
Shopping! For those who can not resist. The “market neighbors’ lie in the first part of the peninsula (past Kawama) and near the Parque Josone. The ‘serious shoppers can visit Plaza Americas. See the overview map.
Golf: for lovers. The 18-hole golf course “Las Americas” is the former estate of Dupont. Tip: if you stay at the Hotel Melia Las Americas, the Kuoni favorite, is a Green Fee included with a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Swimming with the dolphins: the dolphinarium is near of Varadero Melia Las Antillas, a lap swimming with the dolphins is a lovely Supreme Perfect Moment.
